Faraway is built on the most solitary spot of the farm – just fynbos, mountains, endless skies, and silence. It combines the traditional features of a Cape Langhuis with an eco-friendly (run on electrical solar system) and modern design (white cement floors and in-built structures, whitewashed latte ceilings, large panorama windows & doors with unobstructed views of the magnificient landscape). Design by McGregor architect Bruno de Robillard, with a focus on embedding the cottage smoothly into the landscape and exploiting the views from every corner inside and outside, in a setting of complete privacy (click here to see its precise location on the farm).
The large front stoep has a plunge pool and a braai attached to it and boasts spectacular views into the Robertson valley, and the Langeberg Mountains. The back stoep with an additional braai provides lovely views towards the Riversonderend Mountains.
Faraway has two bedrooms (both en-suite), sleeping 2 persons each, though it is possible to add an extra bed in each bedroom so the house can ultimately sleep 6 persons. Both bedrooms and bathrooms have stunning views.
