MARC (GRAPPA) - EAU De VIE - LIQUEUR
At Tanagra we produce a broad and exclusive range of Marc (or what the Italians call 'Grappa' and the Germans call 'Trester') and Eau de Vie ('water of life').
They are clear spirits distilled from fermented grape skins (Marc/Grappa), fermented fruit (fruit-based Eau de Vie), wine (Eau de Vie de Vin), macerated fruit (like our Lemon Eau de Vie), or even distilled from wine lees (like our Cabernet Sauvignon Eau de Vie de Lie, or in German 'Hefebrand'). Our Orange Liqueur (released in September 2016) is the first liqueur produced in our distillery.
Our products can be tasted and are available at our farm and at selected wine shops (please enquire for details). If you would like to see our spirits stocked at your favourite wine shop, please let us know and we will try to make them available there for you. You are also welcome to order online - we can deliver nationwide in South Africa. Outside South Africa (some of) our spirits are available at Wynkiste (Germany, Austria, BeNeLux), Winecask (Namibia) and Vin Africa (Europe & China).

|Tanagrappa||Made from the pomace of the Tanagra house wine, the Heavenly Chaos (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz), 43% Alc.: "Strong, fragrant aromatics with distinctly grappa character. Smooth and clean across the palate with again the distinct grappa characters yet decidedly crisp and clean. Builds intensity in the mouth then gives very pleasant warming glow on the swallow. The first Lemon Eau de Vie made in South Africa; "Wow, no mistake what that is made from !! Nose is stunning and gives impression that palate might be sweet yet it is bone dry. Smooth and dry across very lively palate. Lemon flavour grows in the mouth and is lifted by firm alcoholic content. Delightful on crushed ice with just a dash of syrup." (Dave Hughes, May 2012)

little if any varietal character on the nose. In fact, nose
very clean and spirity. Obviously well made. Firm and full
in the mouth with decided peppery tingle on the tongue. Hint
of attractive earthiness. Rich, full and long, powerful
finish. A good product as a well distilled spirit but lacks
